Forced draft cooling towers which are mechanical draft type (Not Natural), have an exhaust fan placed at the base of the cooling tower which then causes overpressure. Both axial and centrifugal fans can be used. The fans installed in the forced draft cooling towers at the air inlet, is for the forced-draft movement. The fan can be mounted at the bottom or side of the structure. Air is forced through the water spill area and discharged out the top of the structure. Although using this type of fan can affects on noise level and absorbed capacity, it has dry air stream drive and easier maintenance. A forced draft cooling tower can be Wet, Dry or Hybrid, Counterflow or Crossflow, Open or Closed circuit with Steel, FRP or Concrete body.
